The Boston Tech community recently gathered in City Hall Plaza on a beautiful summer evening to engage and network with companies both new and old. Here companies set up booths to exhibit what their business had to offer in terms of products and company culture. For the every-day IT person, this event isn’t your run-of-the-mill networking event. Below are some of the things that set Boston TechJam apart.

GAMES

For the most part, normal network events can be…for the lack of a better term…boring. Sure there are hand-outs with company information, but nothing like what was at TechJam. If you saw our booth at all, you would’ve seen a herd of people lined up to play arcade-sized Whack-A-Mole and Plinko. Some of the other companies had skee-ball, arcade games, a Golf simulator, and even a mechanical shark. These activities served as ice-breakers and allowed conversation to flow freely.

GIVEAWAYS

Another cool thing that every booth had were their giveaways. Sunglasses, koozies, puzzles, iPhone chargers, hats, pens and even droids were up for grabs. The giveaways were a great way to market your company and have someone remember your name when all was said and done.

ALCOHOL

What better way to loosen up and get people networking than to have a few cold ones? Harpoon Brewery set up a few beer tents that not only allowed everyone to get a bit loose, but even chat in the beer line! Companies were seen giving out drink tickets as well, which made it all the more intriguing to visit different booths.

FOOD

Most networking events happen right after normal working-hours around dinner time, and often don’t have food! TechJam was full of a diverse set of food-trucks with local companies getting their delicious offerings out there. Whether you were in the mood for a grilled cheese, hot dogs, homemade fries, or seafood – they had it all!

START-UP PITCHES

One of the more interested spectacles of the day was the Boston start-up pitch contest. Local companies got to pitch their companies and products to the crowd in hopes of winning the hottest start-up prize.

TechJam served as a night out for all of the tech junkies of Boston. Companies and individuals alike got to enjoy the music, food, and drinks and got to know all of Boston’s hottest tech companies. This once a year event is truly not like the rest! We can’t wait to be a part of it again in 2016.
